7 Famous Celebrities Who Have Dealt with Hair Loss

Hair loss is now a common issue that affects people of all ages, irrespective of gender and can be caused by a wide variety of factors.

Generally, in men above their 30s, frontal balding or receding hairline is the most commonly noticed hair loss pattern.

Hair loss in women happens due to multiple reasons such as stress, menopause, diet, and rough handling whereas in men, it can be the result of thyroid problems, tight hairstyles, infections, stress, poor diet, smoking, medications and drug use.

Hair loss from the medical condition referred to as Alopecia Areata is found to be more common than any other causes.

Referred to as spot baldness, this is a hair loss condition that usually affects the scalp. In some cases, the condition resolves without treatment within a year, but hair loss is sometimes permanent.

Here is a look at seven celebrities who fought hair loss issues and won their battle. Check out their experience.

Matthew McConaughey

Matthew McConaughey, an American actor, director, producer, and writer, who won the Oscar® in 2014 for Best Actor for his performance in "Dallas Buyers Club”, has experienced hair loss and subsequent re-growth.

Though this 47-year-old actor is rumored to have had hair plugs, McConaughey announced that he has been using a natural hair growth treatment.

McConaughey noticed that he was losing his hair when he turned 30 and started using Regenix - a product derived from natural ingredients that stopped the progress of the thinning process and revived his hair.

Regenix brand website has quoted Matthew McConaughey saying that "I've been using Regenix, stuff for healthy hair to keep this hair strong, because some of this hair was falling out.

Now my hairline is better than when I was 18."

Victoria Beckham

Victoria Caroline Beckham, an English businesswoman, fashion designer, model, and singer, well known for her hair extensions has also experienced thinning hair, which worsened with the hormonal fluctuations associated with pregnancy.

Stress as well as tight hairdos and excessive use of heavy extensions had left this celebrity with bald spots, called alopecia areata.

Wantmorehair.com reports that Beckham fights hair loss with vitamins and nutritional supplements, of which the best ones are those formulated specifically for hair growth.

Will Young

The winner of Pop Idol, Will Young has also discussed his hair loss issues.

There were many rumors revolving around this Pop Idol star, saying that he had hair replacement surgery to help with his thinning hair.

He denied these claims and admitted taking Propecia to combat hair loss, which has considerably improved his hair.

Propecia prevents the conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone (DHT) in the body.

Licensed and approved by medical regulatory bodies, Propecia is safe to use in the recommended dose.

This DHT blocker comes in the form of a serum, which is applied directly to the scalp, and a pill, which is taken orally.

Dennis Miller

Dennis Miller, an American stand-up comedian didn’t even wait for his hair to get too thin.

He underwent a couple of hair transplant procedures before 2004. And for this reason, he never went bald.

The transplant procedure made the receding area denser again, resulting in natural-looking hair.

The secret behind the success of Dennis’ hair surgery is believed to be the presence of a bunch of thick, natural hair in his balding area.

Jake Quickenden

Jake Quickenden, the 28-year-old English singer and reality television personality had felt insecure about his hairline for years.

He has revealed that he had a hair transplant in August 2017. The cost for the procedure was around £5,000.

“I am delighted with how it has turned out!”

said Quickenden to Huffington Post. This celebrity also admitted that he decided to have the transplant procedure as he didn’t want to marry his partner Danielle Fogarty with no hair.

Calum Best

Calum Best, a British American television personality went through a hair loss stage when he was 22, but recovered soon with hair transplantation.

This star has been balding since his early twenties.

In 2015, Calum Best underwent his third hair transplant procedure.

The results were so pleasing that this celebrity now has a fuller hairline and increased volume of lustrous locks.

Natural Treatment Options Work Safe

Whatever the cause of hair loss or hair thinning may be, there are natural remedies other than hair transplantation procedures that can help the body detoxify and rebalance itself and enable healthy hair to grow again.

Certain natural remedies that are recommended to treat alopecia areata include applying:

  • check
Onion juice on your scalp – Along with improving blood circulation in the scalp and preventing any kind of infections that cause hair loss, it can also increase the natural regrowth of hair in the bald patches.
  • check
Green tea – Apply cold green tea with a cotton cloth on your scalp and retain this for an hour and wash off. Being an antioxidant, green tea strengthens the hair follicles, prevents infections, and regenerates healthy cells on the scalp.
  • check
Aloe vera gel – Mix aloe vera gel and castor oil and apply it gently on your scalp. While castor oil accelerates blood circulation to the scalp, increasing hair re-growth and preventing hair loss, vitamin E-rich Aloe Vera gel helps to make the hair smooth and strong, resulting in healthy hair.

Maintaining an appropriate lifestyle, healthy diet and remaining stress-free by practicing meditation can help to naturally deal with general hair loss issues.
