There are many different diet plans out there, and not all of them are going to be effective.
Some have very temporary effects, some are built for a short time, and then there are those that are designed to help dieters lose weight fast and have a maintenance phase to help keep it off permanently.
The Shock Diet looks to shock the body into actively burning the calories coming in, the fat on the body, and is balanced out so a couple full eating days allow the body’s fat burning hormones to come out, preventing the metabolism from shutting down and the body going into starvation mode.

Fair Warning
Health Form does not promote any kind of fad type diet and we do not necessarily endorse this type of “lose weight fast” diet.
However we also believe that everyone deserves to have the full facts about what is available out there.
To that end, we have written this article to give some information about what it is, the meal plan and if it is actually a real option for serious dieters.
Essentially you can think of this as a shock diet review.
For what we would recommend instead, read the end of this post
What Is The Shock Diet | What Does It Promise?
The promises from this diet are pretty impressive and sure to get the attention of anyone wanting to lose a decent amount of weight.
The shock diet claims that most overweight individuals can lose up to 15 kg (33 lbs) in two weeks, or 15 days depending on which version of the claim you read.
The idea here is to use willpower for the short time it takes to really see results, with the diet followed extremely closely on 5 days before taking 2 days off to eat normally, followed again by 5 days on the diet before taking 2 days off to eat normally, then one more day on the diet to finish off one 15 day block.
Does It Really Work | Can You Really Lose 20kg in 2 Weeks?
Whilst there are undoubtedly people that have tried this eating regime before and found success, we just cannot recommend for reasons of sound nutrition.
We must add in a disclaimer that we have only researched the shock diet and no one that works for Health Form has ever tried it.
That said the only websites that we have read about it have all raved about it.
But surprise, surprise these sites are all trying to sell some product and gain affiliate commissions from recommending it.
We could go the same route but we think that this is not ethical for and we will only ever recommended certain things that we have either used ourselves, or that has a consistently high review rating from independent reviewers.
Our main concern with the shock diet is for 2 reasons:
- It is not nutritionally healthy and misses out some very important foods.
- It is not consistent and even though you may lose weight initially; it is going to be very hard to stick to it and you may find that your weight will do the dreaded yo-yo.
Shock Diet Meal Plan
Preface
There are a few overriding rules that need to be followed throughout the diet.
These might not be written down every time, but they need to be heeded throughout.
- No drinking alcohol
- Drink lots of water
- Don’t mix up meals: they must be eaten in order
- Don’t mix up meals: they must be eaten in order
- Don’t overindulge on weekends, don’t skip them – eat normally on those two days
Remember that these rules need to be followed in addition to the rest of these outlined days.
Since the model is 5-2 for strict diet versus regular eating, we’re going to assume the weekend is those two days with regular meals.

What You Can Expect
Reports online indicate that it is possible to lose weight, but from our scouring of health forums and reaching out to those who have tried it; the overwhelming comment is that it makes people very lethargic.
Before and After
We have reached out to some of our readers that have tried the shock diet before and wanted to get their honest options and some before and after photos to show you.
However many of those who we asked were not comfortable with this option, but one did give us permission to write her testimonial with her names replaced with a random one.
I was 50 pounds over what I considered to be a size I could be happy with and I was kind of stuck in a rut with regards to weight loss.
But then I found out about the shock diet by just searching around on the internet and gave it a shot.
I certainly did lose some pretty decent weight…not 50 pounds, but a noticable amount.
However the problem was that I was lethargic a lot of the time and when I stopped becuase of work travel, I found that I put a lot of it back on again.
This isn’t to say that my regression was due to the diet because you don’t really eat well when travelling, but I did feel that I couldn’t keep it up.

The Shock Diet isn’t for everyone.
However for many overweight individuals, this is a diet plan that can act as both the heavy shock your system needs to get going in dropping the weight as well as laying out the blueprint for how the shock diet can help you lose weight and keep it off.
